Physicians and Staff
Our Physicians are affiliated with Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Family Practice Residency Program as Preceptors and are FSU College of Medicine Clerkship Faculty members. Our physicians have hospital privileges at both Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare and Capital Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Duncan Postma came to Tallahassee in 1986 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he had been an assistant professor. He received his board certification in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery in 1982. He has extensive experience in pediatric ENT as well as cancer of the head and neck. He has published numerous articles and book chapters and was elected a member of the subspecialty society of the American Head and Neck Society at one time. He is an assistant clinical professor at UNC-Chapel Hill and participates as an assistant clinical professor with the FSU College of Medicine.
Dr. Spencer Gilleon is from Tampa, Florida and began practicing in Tallahassee in July, 1991. He received his Bachelor’s degree at Virginia Tech and a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences at Emory University. Having graduated from medical school at the University of Florida in 1986, he completed five years of internship and otolaryngology residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. He is board certified in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and is affiliated with the FSU College of Medicine as an assistant clinical professor.
Dr. Adrian Roberts was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida. He completed his undergraduate studies in 1985 and his medical school training in 1989 at the University of Florida. He subsequently completed his surgical internship and otolaryngology residency at the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Roberts received his board certification in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery in 1995. His practice included all aspects of otolaryngology. He is an assistant clinical professor at the FSU College of Medicine. Dr. Roberts serves as the director of our audiology services.
Dr. Marie O. Becker is from Houston, Texas and began practicing in Tallahassee in August of 1995. She completed her undergraduate studies in 1985 at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Spanish, magna cum laude. She graduated from medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and went on to complete her internship and residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in 1995. Dr. Becker is board certified in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. She participates as an assistant clinical professor with the FSU College of Medicine.
Dr. Joseph Soto is originally from Atlanta, Georgia and began practicing in Tallahassee in July, 2005. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, summa cum laude, from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee in 1996. Dr. Soto continued his medical education at Vanderbilt and was awarded the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine Award of Distinction when he graduated in 2000. He completed his general surgery internship at St. Joseph Hospital and his otolaryngology residency at the University of Colorado in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Soto is board certified in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and his practice encompasses all aspects of otolaryngology. He, too, is an assistant clinical professor with FSU College of Medicine.
Dr. Scott A. Asher is from Decatur, Alabama and is a fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon. He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and is a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Prior to completing his fellowship training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago, he attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham for his surgical internship and otolaryngology residency. He brings exceptional surgical skill, aesthetic vision, and compassionate care to each patient he treats. Dr. Asher's expertise is in plastic surgery of the face, with a background in both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He serves as the Director of The Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Center, a division of Tallahassee Ear, Nose and Throat.
He will provide a wide variety of services including surgical rejuvenation for facial aging, non-surgical facial enhancement, facial trauma repair and scar revision, head & neck/skin cancer reconstruction.
Dr. Graham T. Whitaker completed his medical degree and otolaryngology residency at the University of Florida and began practicing in Tallahassee in July 2016. He is a native of Tampa, Florida and obtained his undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry from Florida Atlantic University in Ft. Lauderdale. Dr. Whitaker's practice covers all areas of adult and pediatric otolaryngology, with special interest in the areas of endoscopic sinus surgery, facial trauma, and head and neck cancer.
Brett Thompson received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Florida and her BSN at Florida State University where she graduated Cum Laude. She previously worked alongside our physicians in the outpatient surgical center at Tallahassee Memorial and will assist in select surgical cases. Her practice will include adult and pediatric otolaryngology.
